Win big! Be one of the First Five In!

August 26th, 2009 Comments Off

Now, when I say win big, I’m afraid there’s no new car or villa on the Gold Coast involved.
What we do have to offer though is far superior: FREE TICKETS TO FIRST FIVE OUT!
What an awesome competition… It’s like the big showcase at the end of The Price Is Right, except instead of cars and jetskis and vacuum cleaners and Larry Emdur, we have some free tickets and 11 awesome speakers.

C’mon people! Get on it.

Head over to our Twitter page, and leave a reply to us with the total number of 5c coins that are used on the First Five Out poster

There’s been a few attempts so far which may or may not have been successful, so hurry up before all the tickets are snapped up!

Did I hear someone say ‘Event of the Year’?

August 7th, 2009 Comments Off

With event night closing in (Yep, 3rd of September people- Get it in the diary), the AGDA Student Council is running on all cylinders to bring you what may just turn out to be the event of the year.
After hours of meetings, of designing posters, of gaining sponsors, of writing marketing copy and of hard work, we’ve finally brought it all together.
And boy, is it going to be worth it.
Without a word of a lie (not even any hyperbole) the line-up for this event is amazing. You could even say it’s the Big Day Out of design events.
With the topic ‘For Love or Money’, the speakers are discussing the contrast, synergy, frustration and elation that can exist between these two concepts. Tying this in to the First Five Out theme, all of our speakers are discussing their experiences with Love and/or Money within the first five years of them completing their schooling.
So come prepared, as there’s bound to be shiny, golden gems of advice, insight and entertainment that will help light the way for you as you enter into the world after uni/tafe/school….

What to do now?
- Check out the speakers
- Buy tickets
- Leave us a comment and tell us who you’re keen to see!

Zoe Coombe and Chris Evans – Speaker Profiles

Zoe Coombe and Chris Evans
TANK

Chris Evans completed the Northland Design Studies folio building course before swaggering with ill-deserved confidence into Visual Communication at Monash University. After 3 years of talking rubbish and having opinions on everything he graduated and took time off (doing freelance work for friends and a short stint at Black Widow Design) before joining TANK in late 2006. Chris has since become an ironical creative type and is going grey more quickly than a brown fox can jump over… etc.

Zoe Coombe attended the Brighton Bay Art, Design and Photography program (Sister course to Northland), coming up with far more superior screen prints and clay figurines. This catapulted her into RMIT for even more nerdish study. After 3 years of slaving away and watching an alarming amount of late night television during folio time Zoe needed a break. Spending some time painting and working Zoe eventually eased back into design with some freelancing and ended up at The Surgery. Over the next two years it was stints of work and European adventuring until she was adopted by TANK at the beginning of 2008.
